The Chicago Foundation for Education employs several initiatives to increase awareness of our grant opportunities and encourage teachers to take advantage of them. Outreach programs also assist CFE in replicating the curricular projects, teaching strategies, and action research findings of our grant winners. As teachers are integral to our outreach efforts, CFE outreach efforts showcase the expertise and cultivate the leadership of our exceptional grant-winning teachers. CFE currently relies on the following four outreach initiatives:
- The Annual Teachers as Leaders and Learners Workshop
CFE's annual Teachers as Leaders and Learners Workshop takes place at the beginning of each school year. The workshop provides a venue for teachers across the city to learn from the exemplary teaching strategies, curricular projects, and action research findings developed by CFE's most outstanding grant recipients. More than 500 Chicago educators from across the city attend this valuable workshop where over 60 teachers present their grant-winning projects.
Teachers network with colleagues and increase awareness of the rich professional development and educational opportunities available to Chicago teachers. They also take back to their classrooms innovative curricular projects and teaching strategies along with an increased enthusiasm for teaching. Check out the Annual Workshop link on our website for more details about the next workshop.
- Teacher-to-Teacher
Consisting of a select number of our strongest, most experienced grant recipients, the "Teacher-to-Teacher" Program promotes CFE's grant opportunities and facilitates grant-writing workshops across the city. Learn more about this program by clicking here.
- CFE Teacher Liaisons
"Teacher Liaisons" share information about CFE programs with the faculty and staff members at their school, and subsequently motivate their colleagues to apply for CFE grants. To view additional information regarding CFE's Teacher Liaisons, please click here.
- Project Outreach
Each year, CFE targets approximately 40 schools with low involvement in our programs. CFE "Project Outreach" volunteers present and promote CFE opportunities at these schools in order to increase teacher involvement in our programs.
