SMALL GRANTS

Over 400 CFE Small Grants are awarded each year to Chicago Public School (CPS) elementary teachers to implement innovative, creative classroom ideas that enhance student learning. Classroom observations usually take place during school hours and last only about thirty minutes to an hour. Scheduling is extremely flexible and you work directly with the teacher to facilitate your schedules.
Review Small Grant application & select grant winners (Late October: day & evening sessions).
Observe Small Grant winning projects in action in the classroom (February - June).

STUDY GROUP GRANTS

Study Group Grants provide experienced teachers (Study Group Coaches) the opportunity to lead a Study Group around a proven Instructional Strategy with 4-6 teachers (Study Group Team Members) who are willing to implement and adapt the strategy in their own classroom. Review sessions operate in a round table discussion and the observations are similar to the Small Grant observation model.
Review & discuss Study Group Coach Grant applications & select grant winners (January: weekday morning and afternoon sessions). *prior teaching/and/or CFE grant reading assistance required.
